Elderly Del. Man Charged With Harassing Minor

CLAYMONT, Del. (CBS 3) ― New Castle County police have arrested an elderly man from Claymont, Delaware for harassing and attempting to lure a minor.

James P. Ward, 81, has been charged with harassing an 11-year-old girl who he attempted to lure into his car last week.

According to county police, video footage obtained from the Claymont Community Center captured the image of an elderly man fitting the description provided by the young victim.

Officer Michael Jutison was able to positively identify the suspect as Ward, who was later identified by the victim in a photo lineup.

Ward was arrested Friday afternoon without incident and charged with harassment. He has been arraigned and released on $1,000 unsecured bail. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim.
