The body of an 11-year-old from North Philadelphia was recovered following a boating accident on the Delaware River Friday evening.
Police found the body of 11-year-old Raniel Molina at about 3 p.m. Sunday. Molina reportedly fell into the Delaware River while riding in a 16-foot recreational boat with his uncle, 43-year-old Hector Rosa.
Rosa dove into the waters to save his nephew, but was caught in the swift currents. His body was recovered near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge at about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
A third person was apparently aboard the boat during the incident, but was unable to save either victim.
The U.S. Coast Guard, officers from the New Jersey State Police and marine units from the Philadelphia Police Department assisted in the search for the missing boaters.
The tragic incident remains under investigation.
