Del. Police Plan Drunken Driving Checkpoints
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) ―
Motorists should be on the lookout for drunken driving checkpoints this holiday weekend.
Delaware State Police planned checkpoints on Saturday night in Harrington and Smyrna. The checkpoints could go on as late as 3 a.m. Sunday.
State Police Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh says there also will be more officers looking for aggressive drivers. Police will have roaming patrols who will catch speeding cars by pacing after them. Other officers will be parked and using radars to monitor speeds.
Some Delaware residents say they don't agree with mandatory drunken driving checkpoints, because they believe it's an invasion of a person's right to privacy.
