Utley, Wife Assist Abused Puppy

Treatment for the injured pooch, costing upwards of $5,000, is being paid for by Utley and his wife Jen, who are dedicated to stopping animal abuse.

Philadelphia Phillies second basemen Chase Utley and his wife Jen visited a special puppy on Thursday.
The dog, named Etana, was tortured and is now on the mend thanks to the Utley's and the Pennsylvania SPCA. The Utley's are working to bring attention to the plight of abused animals.
Neighbors contacted police after noticing a group of teens severely beat the dog before setting it on fire in N. Hirst Street in West Philadelphia two weeks ago.
"She was waiting for her angel to come," Jen Utley said.
Treatment for the injured pooch, costing upwards of $5,000, is being paid for by Utley and his wife Jen, who are dedicated to stopping animal abuse.
"You never want to harm an animal and I think people that do need to be seriously punished because it is not right," Chase said.
Jen was devastated after seeing the injured puppy on CBS 3 August 24.
"She was upset and I knew that she was very serious about trying to make sure this dog has a good life, so I was 100 percent behind her," Chase said.
The SPCA said they are closing in on the suspects who so badly beat the dog.
"We brought in four suspects for questioning over the weekend and that led us to two additional suspects who will be questioned today (Thursday)," SPCA CEO Howard Nelson said.
