Dozens Of Cats Rescued From Bucks Co. Apartment

WARMINSTER, Pa. (CBS 3) ― An apartment in Bucks County has been condemned after authorities found 29 cats living in unsanitary conditions.

The Bucks County SPCA raided the apartment in Warminster and removed 29 cats they said were living in "deplorable" conditions.

"All the adult cats had ear infections, everyone," said Kathy Myron of the PA Humane Society. "All the five kittens had viral infections."

According to a criminal complaint, the apartment was flea infested and filled with trash, fecal matter and urine.

Neighbors notified authorities of a strong odor coming from the apartment and managers entered the apartment fearing discovering a dead body.

However, after inspecting the apartment and seeing the condition of the apartment, the SPCA returned with a search warrant.

"They were running around, there was so much trash and debris on the floor, it was between ankle and knee deep," said Myron.

The number of cats in the apartment had grown so large that the owner could no longer keep track of them.

The Bucks County SPCA, which is already at capacity with rescued cats, will have to make room for the new 29 and get them inspected and healthy for adoption.

The owner will be charged with animal cruelty.
