'Bonnie' Surrenders To Authorities

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ―

A former college student accused of stealing the identities of neighbors in an upscale apartment building surrendered to authorities Wednesday ahead of her expected guilty plea.

Jocelyn Kirsch, who had been out on bail, is expected to plead guilty in the next few weeks, said her attorney, Ron Greenblatt. The agreement will call for a minimum sentence of two years in prison and Kirsch wants to begin accruing credit for time served, he said.

"We're close to a deal," said Greenblatt, who declined comment on the specifics. "With that kind of time it just makes sense for her to surrender at this time."

Kirsch faces charges including aggravated identity theft, money laundering and fraud.

U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno, in an order dated Tuesday, revoked Kirsch's bail and said she had agreed to surrender now. Kirsch had until 2 p.m. Thursday to turn herself in, but she surrendered a day early.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Lappen declined comment on any plea negotiations.

Kirsch, 22, and then-boyfriend Edward Anderton, 25, were arrested in December on charges that they stole the identities of friends, neighbors and co-workers to help fund a lavish lifestyle. Police released a slew of pictures of the photogenic couple, including shots of them on the beach and in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Anderton already has pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

Kirsch's next court appearance, a status hearing, is scheduled for July 14.
