N.J. Woman Mysteriously Vanishes In Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, RI (CBS 3) ― A multi-state search is underway for a New Jersey woman and her boyfriend who were last seen Valentine's Day in Rhode Island.

Amy Scott, 21, of Beach Haven, N.J. and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Daniel Querzoli, apparently borrowed a friend's car saying they were heading out to Providence, but the pair never returned.

The couple apparently left their cell phones, personal identification and credit cards.

Because of the bizarre circumstances behind the pair's disappearance, police quickly initiated a missing person's search.

'They don't have their cell phones, wallet, or in Amy's case a purse. Part of the part that is so frustrating is that is just doesn't make any sense," Amy's brother Ken told CBS 3.

Ken and his family are in Rhode Island awaiting news on their loved ones whereabouts.

Two days after she vanished, police said Scott, a student at Johnson and Wales University, called a friend said they were OK and she was "still with Dan, but they had something to take care of."

According to the CBS station in Boston, authorities traced the number to a 309 area code, out of central Illinois.

Because of the contact, authorities scaled back their search for the couple, but remain perplexed as to their whereabouts.

The two were last seen in a silver, 2004 Honda Civic with New Jersey plates RUF20X. According to police the car has been reported stolen.
