Newark Safety Alerts Go Wireless
NEWARK, Del. (AP) ―
The Newark
police department is now offering safety alerts for the public by text message
and e-mail.
Lt. Brian Henry says the city is paying $6,500
a web-based provider called the Citizens Observer for the service for two years.
Henry says the information sent out to
subscribers ranges from Amber Alerts to traffic problems to descriptions of
crime suspects.
He says it's a useful
tool for parents of University
of Delaware students who
want to follow events in the city.
