Atlantic City Airshow Takes Off
ATLANTIC CITY (AP) ―
All eyes will be on the sky instead of the ocean in Atlantic City Wednesday.
An estimated 500,000 to 600,000 people are expected to crowd the beach and boardwalk for the 2009 Atlantic City Airshow.
"Thunder Over the Boardwalk" features 30 fleets of private and military aircraft that will fly in formations and perform aerial acrobatics.
Heavy traffic is expected on the Atlantic City Expressway, Route 30 and Route 40. Officials estimate nearly 91,000 vehicles will head in and out of the city.
The Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority estimates 400 volunteers will help control the crowd.
The air show starts at 11:00 a.m. and will end at 3:30 p.m. with a performance by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
