Fans Catch Glimpse Of Philly-Bound Yankees

Yankee Nation is invading the City of Brotherly Love, but first they got quite a send-off at Penn Station, CBS station WCBS-TV reported. Dozens of fans were there to cheer the Yankees as they got ready to ride the rails to Philadelphia.
As surprised passengers and Penn Station workers looked on like giddy kids at Christmas, the Yankees made their slow but triumphant descent through the station for a quick train trek to Philadelphia.
The onlookers were able to catch a glimpse of all of their favorites: Game 3 starter Andy Pettitte, Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Nick Swisher, C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Hideki Matsui, Mark Teixeira, and, of course, Alex Rodriguez.
As they paraded by their fanatical supporters, the media tried to get some reactions to the trip and the status of the series, but despite their sincerest efforts, no questions were answered on this day. That was just fine with surprised spectators just happy to see their favorites baseball players.
"Awesome – I just saw A-Rod, everybody walking down," Yankees fan Dominic Naimo said. "We're going to take them. It's going to be three in a row, baby, we ain't coming home!"
The bold talk of finishing the series in Philadelphia comes after Thursday night's impressive win that knotted the series at one win apiece.
"Bring it home, fellas, bring it home," Yankees fan Rev. Bilal Milak said.
That was the hope of most on hand at Penn Station, but not all – there were some Phillies fans scattered among the Yankee hopeful.
"It just so happened I bumped into the enemy," Phillies fan Stark Townend said. "They're impressive in person, but my guys are impressive in person too, and I think ultimately we're the better team. I think, over the long run, we're going to take it."
Friday was the Yankees' turn to leave the Big Apple, and Saturday will be the fans' turn. They'll be sure to take the train, the bus, their cars – whatever it takes to get to the next three games and push their team toward championship # 27.
The Turnpike promises to be busy this weekend, with not only Yankees fans making the trek down to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Saturday night, but for back-to-back games Sunday. The Giants will take on the Eagles at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field before their baseball counterparts reconvene at Citizens Bank Park for Game 4 of the World Series.
In 1950, when the Yankees went to Philadelphia, they traveled with the Phillies. This year, they're chartering their own private train. Things have changed in some ways, but in others they remain the same – after all, the Yankees are in the World Series again.
