Saving On Summer Hairstyles
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
If you are debating getting your hair highlighted for summer, CBS 3's Lesley Van Arsdall reports you can get a great look without spending a fortune.
Summer is a great time to try new and exciting colors. Megan Reilly of AMS Salon says this year the blond look is out and soft and subtle is in.
Reilly recommends Balayage, a French technique of hair painting that lasts longer than foil highlights. The style will last for almost 6 weeks, which adds up to big savings.
"You're going to save, over the course of a year, at least $300-400," Reilly said.
If money is an issue, be sure to talk to your stylist.
"The most important thing is that you have to communicate that with your colorist, your stylist, this way they now you guys can both be on the same page of what needs to be done.
Don't hold back if you're feeling bold this summer and have wanting to cut your hair, but shorter is not always easier
"A short haircut is going to be higher maintenance for cutting," said Jennifer Luszczak of AMS Salon.
The pros recommend a collarbone or longer, layered cut for easy maintenance.
AMS Salon is offering a great deal which includes partial highlights and a blow dry for $100 through the month of July.
