Health: Getting Naked For A Cure
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Taking it all off to help fight breast cancer. Twelve brave men strike a pose with props, like a beach ball and a snowboard strategically placed.
"Yes, I was a little embarrassed, said Graham Godfrey, who posed for the calendar.
Some are fit, some not so much. There's a grandfather, a cop and a student. All shapes and sizes featured in the calendar to help raise money for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, where they cover
60 miles.
Graham, who's British, carefully placed the flag for his Mr. August photo.
"It's very tastefully done," said Karen Godfrey, Graham's wife. She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was just 26.
"One doctor told me to not have the surgery, not have chemo, just to go home and get my affairs in order, that I was going to die," said Karen.
That was 23 years ago. She found a different doctor and is now a survivor. Karen and Graham are getting in shape for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, to raise money and awareness. The calendar project is an extra contribution.
"I think it's wonderful. I think more men need to be involved," said Karen.
Each of the
60-Mile Men raises a minimum of $2,300 for the 3-Day. Graham's team is called the Ta-Ta Savers.
"It's our little bit, 15 minutes of fame if you'd like, to actually get the word out there that we got to cure breast cancer," said Graham.
The calendar costs $20 and all proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer 3-Day.
