Health: Dr. Oz Ultimate Health Challenge

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― We know Donovan McNabb's mother as Wilma. But now she's going by her middle name Char. And she's one of 20 NFL mothers taking the Doctor Oz Ultimate Health Challenge.

"My granddaughter will be five in a couple of weeks, and she told one of her girlfriends that her granny was fat. I was like granny not going to be fat for long just wait and see," said Char.

The other Philadelphia Eagle mother in the challenge is Gayle Jackson, DeSean's mom, who has a family history of diabetes.

"It's very important to me. It's a matter of life and death," said Gayle.

"Since I'm from Philadelphia, I had a little bit of influence on selection. We have two great Eagles player's moms," Dr. Mehmet Oz.

The mom's are divided in to teams of 10. It's the AFC versus the NFC. To kick off the challenge, they weigh in as a team. The NFC moms weighing a combined 2,093 pounds, averaging 209 pounds a person.

"We do have a gut busting diet we put these moms on. After they eat the healthy food, if they still want to have some junk food, I'll be ok with that," said Dr. Oz.

It's a basic diet consisted of three meals a day, each including protein, fiber and whole grains.

And the kitchen closes after 8 p.m. Dr. Oz also has a quick and easy exercise plan.

"I want to make it a big event this Fall for moms to take care of themselves. I think it's a big crisis that moms put themselves second," said Dr. Oz.

Anybody can join the Dr. Oz Ultimate Health Challenge. It runs through the football season, and the football mom winners will be announced right before the Super Bowl.
