3 On Your Side: Banking On The Go
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Does managing your finances and expenses sometimes feel like a juggling act? For some, even doing online banking on their computer is a hassle.
As consumer reporter Jim Donovan tells us, banks are responding with tools so customers can bank on the go.
Adam Fernandez is a busy attorney with a wife and new born baby at home. He's always on the go and these days, he's doing his banking on the go too.
"I have an iPhone and PNC has just released an app and I can do that all from my phone which I use every day," said Fernandez.
Adam actually switched banks because of the Apple iPhone application. It's just one of the features of PNC's Virtual Wallet program.
"There is a money bar, no other bank as far as I know has it, where you just click it and slide it, and on the iPhone, you just put your hand on it and slide it back and forth and you can move money from one account to another," said Fernandez.
PNC's Virtual Wallet is actually three accounts in one with no service charges or minimum balance requirements.
"It's easy to manage online," said college student, Christopher Scott.
Christopher uses the student version of Virtual Wallet which takes the guessing game out of managing money.
"It tells you day by day, how much you deposited, how much you spent in, it has a weekly balance, how much you spent in a month," said Scott.
PNC's Melvin Huang says it's very user-friendly.
"It's not complicated, you can see everything in there, your scheduled payments, bill pay, transferring funds, everything's in detail," said Huang.
The PNC Virtual Wallet program also has a fun feature called Punch the Pig. It allows you to transfer a set amount of money into your savings account by punching the piggy bank that pops up to encourage saving.
