3 On Your Side: No-Stove Supper Ideas
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Overworked and underpaid? Take a break from heating the oven or simmering pots on the stove. 3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan teams up with the food editors at Good Housekeeping and tells about some no-stove supper ideas.
Sometimes even the most dedicated chef needs a fallback for days when you're too busy to cook.
The Good Housekeeping Research Institute says a microwave is all you'll need to prepare ravioli with ripe tomatoes.
"This tomato sauce comes together in a flash. We just have some chopped tomatoes, chopped basil, a little olive oil, lemon zest, and salt and pepper. Stir to combine and then top your microwave ravioli," said Samantha Senevirante with Good Housekeeping.
Dress the dish with shredded parmesan cheese and you've got a delicious meal in under 10 minutes.
These shrimp tacos are easy to make.
"We just put together a little onions, some jalapeƱo, corn, beans, and shrimp. Cook it up in the microwave, top it with some avocado salsa, and you're done," said Seneviratne.
Even your most committed carnivore will chow down on this Portobello pesto burger. They're already patty-shaped, and this store-bought sun-dried tomato pesto is the only seasoning necessary.
Top the burger with goat cheese and basil and watch as everyone chows down.
When cooking in your toaster oven, Good Housekeeping recommends the Pro-Form Compact ovenware collection from Nordic Ware which runs from $3.50 to $28.
