Health: Inspiring Weight Loss Story

Medical Reporter Stephanie Stahl has their inspiring story.
No longer an embarrassing chore, shopping is now a fun new experience for Shannon Summers and her mom Cheryl, who we first met early last year.
They're fitting into sizes they never thought possible, and twirling in delight.
"A different person, completely different, I feel great," said Shannon.
Shannon was so desperate to lose weight, so she had gastric bypass surgery.
It was such a success, so Cheryl followed in her daughter's footsteps.
Shannon lost over 100 pounds in a year. Her mom has dropped 71 pounds since last April.
"There's no way I would have lost this weight without it, there's no way," said Cheryl.
They had robotic surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital. It's a quicker and easier way to reduce stomach size, so people eat less and rapidly lose weight.
Shannon is now a Junior Size 11.
It's a whole new world for Shannon, no longer hiding, ashamed of her size.
At age 22, she's finally happy and confident, and even has a boyfriend now.
"I'm a lot healthier. I feel better about myself. I have more energy. I can actually walk up the stairs without passing out," said Shannon.
And for Cheryl, she's much healthier and no longer diabetic.
"It's terrific. I'm very pleased," said Cheryl.
"I can actually shop in regular stores, which is amazing," said Shannon.
