Messages From Beyond

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― When a loved one dies, many people look for a sign from the other side. A local psychologist has heard the stories of those who say they've heard from the dead and as CBS 3's Anne-Marie Green reports, she believes anyone can receive these messages from beyond.

What if death is not the end?

"She said 'Who are the people at the end of the bed' and I said 'Mom there's no one there,' and she said 'Yes there are they are waiting for me,'" described Rosalie Schack.

What if loved ones can connect with you from beyond?

Susan Apollon believes the dead do send messages. She is a Bucks County psychologist with more than 20 years in grief counseling says her clients' experiences are proof.

Her book Touched By The Extraordinary is full of their stories.

Susan says contact comes in many forms.

"If they smoked or used cigars people will say, 'Suddenly I was thinking of them and there was that smell,'" stated Apollon.

Some appear in dreams and visions.

For Rosalie Schack, it was her mother's reflection in a window.

"My mother stood behind me and walked into me. I said mother's with me and will always be with me," said Schack.

Apollon says you must be open to these experiences.

Her book explains how meditation, prayer, and a calm state of mind can be all you need to communicate with spirits.

Susan suggests watching closely for messages on special occasions and holidays and pray regularly.

Even get a pet. Apollon says animals are deeply connected to humans.

Do not be afraid to simply ask for a visit.

"Your actual energetic vibration begins to lift and that allows you to connect with your intuitive higher self," stated Apollon , adding, "Then you can start to begin to connect with the deceased."

When Carol Pasqual's little girl Britt died of cancer, she came to Appolon.

Pasqual says she learned how to recognize the messages she believes come from Britt.

"When I would be sad a song would come or a butterfly would come," described Pasqual.

By using her suggestions Apollon says you will have a sense of freedom and hope after your loss.
