Philadelphia Magazine: Outdoor Dining
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
A new month, a new issue of Philadelphia Magazine and this one is for foodies who love dining Al fresco.
From the suburbs, to the shore, to the city, you'll find the best of outdoor dining, minus the SEPTA bus fumes. Ukee Washington lists just a few outside spots from the July issue.
If you like a view while you lunch on lobster club sandwiches and sip iced tea, you'll find one of the hottest tables in town 19 floors above Center City.
It's balcony dining at Nineteen at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue; a balcony that comes with a stunning view of Philadelphia.
"The balcony hasn't been open since 1957, we actually had to pick away several years of paint to get the doors open," said Molly O'Shea of the Park Hyatt.
Nineteen makes Philadelphia Magazine's top 20 outdoor dining spots. Food editor April White reveals tucked away outdoor cafes in places you would never spot by just walking along the street.
"The little courtyards, the balconies, the porches that are a little removed and make you feel like you're in a little special world," says April.
A special world, like Italy!
Welcome to the Positano Coast in Old City.
"We try to recreate like a feeling like our coast in Italy, so it's comfortable and you can eat and enjoy and relax," says restaurant owner Aldo Lamberti.
Lemon trees surround diners on this airy balcony bistro.
If the country is where you want to be, then have a seat on the porch of The Blue Pear Bistro in Chester County. The West Chester restaurant was once an 18th century general store.
"Well this front porch, it's just a beautiful space, especially this time of day, the sun just comes across it at a perfect angle," says Chef David Fogelman.
Chef David says The Blue Pear's country location means the freshest dishes of the summer menu from Chester County farmers.
So enjoy dining al fresco for as long as the weather permits.
