Local Mom Videotapes Her Life On 'Tiny Goals'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Motherhood is rich in its joys, but it can also be a real challenge. One Chester County mom is dealing with her struggles and adventures in a very public way. CBS 3's Pat Ciarrocchi has the story of one local woman putting her story out there for the world to watch.

She says exactly what's on the minds of women like her:

"For me, no matter how many mind games I play, it's still a diet, and I still hate it."

"I'm 40, I have wrinkles and I have acne."

And she says it in front of thousands on the Web site YouTube. For anonymity, she identifies herself only as Mel, and her project is one of self-improvement.

"I love to make lists and I love to plan, but when it comes down to following it, I don't do so good," said "Mel."

Earlier this year, "Mel" created Tiny Goals, documenting her pursuit of the mundane (such as learning how to plan the conga drums) to the momentous: "I'm going to try and paint my whole house this week."

"Mel" hopes Tiny Goals would have a big impact on others. Armed with a laptop, web cam and editing program, she goes from mother of four to performer to video producer.

"In one of my weight loss videos, I did this crazy dance, and my kids were really embarrassed about that. But I found it to be a freeing feeling to make a fool of myself," said "Mel."

Our cameras were there when she recorded one of her latest goals to pack for a trip to Vegas.

Some weeks, Mel even includes her kids in her videos, who don't seem to mind the limelight.

Her YouTube channel has been watched by more than 6,000 people, and she even got recognized recently.

"It was neat because not only did she recognize me, but she wanted her picture taken with me," said "Mel." "She was really excited to meet me -- my first fan!"

One of her most recent goals was to meet American Idol contestant David Cook. No luck on her first try at his concert in Atlantic City, but she tried again at his Philly show, and there was David Cook on her YouTube channel: "To everybody at Tiny Goals, she did it! She did it."

For the record, out of the 29 goals she set, "Mel" has accomplished all 29.
