3 On Your Side: Spring Fashion Trends

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― Spring is here and ladies, that means it's time to catch up on the latest fashion trends. As 3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan tells you, you won't need to buy a whole new wardrobe.

Good Housekeeping says women don't have to spend lots of money to look trendy this spring. You can pair basics that you already have in your closet with must-have pieces from this season's runway and have an incredible look. "We took a basic shift dress and a strand of pearls and paired it with a brocade jacket by Nicole Miller for JC Penney, and it's in the must have color for spring, which is white," said Aretha Busby with the Good Housekeeping Research Institute. The Brocade Jacket by Nicole Miller retails for $80.

Another classic item that many woman have in their closet is a twin set. The Institute paired a navy one with an ombre skirt to give it some new life. Ombre is the shading from dark to light in one garment. "We love this skirt by Dana Buchman which is silky and dressy," said Busby. It retails for $295.

Two things that women should have in their closet are a striped t-shirt and wide-legged khaki pants. "What we've done is paired them with an anorak jacket which is dressy and has a sateen finish to it," said Busby. "It's perfect for wearing to the office or more sporty on the weekends," she added. Good Housekeeping recommends the Jones New York Signature Sateen Anorak jacket which retails for $149.

The spring trend for jewelry is bold. Good Housekeeping says try a glitzy cocktail ring during the day, as long as the rest of your jewelry is low-key.
