3 On Your Side: Streaming Cell Phone Video
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Ever wish you could show a friend an outfit before you
bought it at the store? Or maybe you want to share your child's first home run
as it is happening, with his grandparents on another coast?
Well
3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan says you don't have to
wish anymore.
That's right, just when you thought cell phones had every
feature imaginable. Now they've added another one. It's from AT&T and it's
called Video Share.
AT&T Video Share is the first service that allows you to
stream live video while still carrying on a conversation.
"It's sort of like video chatting," said Ellen
Webner with AT&T Wireless. "You can see the pictures and chat about
them at the same time."
The video share service is $4.99 a month for 25 minutes of
video sharing, $9.99 for 60 minutes a month or $.35 cents per minute for a pay
per use basis.
"Right now you need to look for a phone that has video
share capabilities," said Webner.
"Those are 3G or 3rd generation broadband phones because they have
the ability to send video and voice simultaneously."
In case you were wondering, the video share minutes are
charged only to the sender.
