Police in Salem County are searching for the Christmas Grinch who stole thousands of dollars raised by disabled young adults.
Police said the thief or thieves broke into the HollyDell T.O.P. building in Pennsville, New Jersey late Wednesday evening.
Once inside, the bandits shattered the glass on several doors, ripped open numerous Christmas presents and eventually broke into a cabinet containing $3,000 in cash and checks that had been collected through fundraisers.
HollyDell T.O.P. is a day center for disabled adults, many of whom have Cerebral Palsy. The group raises money through craft and yard sales to pay for day trips and special outings.
"They violated the people that I care about, the young adults that come here everyday, they're part of our family," program supervisor Lyn Zanow explained.
Employee Lynda Harrison echoed the sentiment of many at the center.
"We just ask that whoever did this would just give us back the money, that's really what we need is for them to be able to have their trips and their activities, that's all we're asking, we're not out for vengeance," Harrison said.
So far, there have been no arrests.
