Delaware Valley Gas Prices On The Decline

by Angela Russell
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. (CBS 3) ― The steady drop in gas prices in the Delaware Valley over the last few weeks has folks seeing more green in their pockets.

The difference is noticeable and motorists are paying attention and are excited by some good news.

"It is a nice little difference, 20-dollars worth of gas takes you substantially further now," said Mike Gigliotti.

The average price for a gallon of gas in July and August was around $3.12. Now, the average price in Philadelphia is $2.72, $2.60 in New Jersey and Delaware residents are paying an average of $2.59.

The dramatic drop in price is welcomed news for motorists but some are trying to not get too excited.

"I am just hoping that this is not a ploy where they drop down and shoot back up to $3.40 a gallon," said Gigliotti.

Experts are also urging motorists to err on the side of caution and take the drop in stride because things can change quickly.

"We do caution motorists against adopting a false sense of security because a hurricane in the Gulf Coast or unrest in the Middle East can send them crude oil prices back up," said Ela Voluck of AAA, Mid-Atlantic.

In the meantime, motorists can just, at least for the time being, enjoy the ride and hope better days are ahead.
