PO'd At The Pump

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― With gas prices on the rise, many are concerned about the increasing cost of filling up. New Jersey lawmakers proposed allowing drivers to pump their own gas to offset the rising prices. CBS3.com has created this section so you can voice your concerns and share your thoughts about the steep prices at the pump.

The gas prices being at an all time high are causing more problems then people realize. It is affect the little guy along with the big business. The added expense isn't even necessary. There is technology to get significantly better mileage on our cars that the car companies refuse to release. We as consumers along with the government need to put more pressure on the car companies to give us the gas mileage they know they can and forget what the gas companies keep saying. We both know it won't happen, the gas companies have too much money and put too much pressure on the car companies to keep the gas mileage low. If you recall when the Dodge Neon first came out in the late 1990's the mileage was 60 mpg, now for whatever reason it is back to the mid 30's mpg. Why is, that the gas companies complained and Dodge lowered the mileage. We need to complain LOUDER and get the mileage to where it belongs. Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.
I'm tired of paying too much and getting poor mileage. We are getting it from both ends.

IF THE GAS STATION OWNERS SAY THAY ONLY MAKE 3 CENTS ON A GAL. OF GAS HOW COME GAS PRICES ARE LOWER IN DELAWARE COUNTY AND HIGHER PER GALLON IN SOUTH PHILA. I NOTICED THIS AT BP STATIONS IN DELAWARE COUNTY AND BP STATIONS IN SOUTH PHILA.

Dear Webmaster: When we have a drought we restrict water use by such tactics as fining people for watering their lawns or washing their cars. Most of us need to use our cars to get to work, however, we could save gas by making it illegal to mow our lawns more than once every two weeks. I live in the suburbs and lawn services and homeowners will cut lawns every 6-7 days. If they were restricted to less than 14 days, we would save one half of all gas used in lawn care. Not the final answer but it would help our gas shortage. Thank you.

Recently I emailed US Senator Frank Lautenberg from New Jersey; I suggested that the state and federal taxes should be suspended thru mid September. I had explained that I had pumped gasoline in the 1970's and understood the strain and anger people experience when the prices become outrageous. When people see an immediate visual change, they are likely to believe the government actually cares and is doing their part to help. Thank You.

How come gas prices in Delaware County are 25 cents less per gallon than South Phila., when the gas station owners say they only make 3 cents per gallon. I got gas at a BP station in Deleware Co. and also got gas at a BP station in South Phila. Gas was lower in Delaware Co. at all stations. Why?

I live in Frankford, it's really a shame we have to pay these costly gas prices. You would figure after the winter blues,of being stuck in the house, we would be able to travel, but, we are going to have the summer blues. Personally, I'm done voting for elected officials, they don't do nothing for us at these times of need. Sorry to be an American.....

I think George Bush could care less how much we have to pay for gas!!! After all they have stocks in the oil companies. If he wanted to help us he would crack down on them instead of telling them to reinvest the profits. WHERE IS HIS BRAIN?? I guess we all know where it is!! Sitting on them. He tells us to conserve gas but he doesn't by taking the planes and helicopters all over creation!! He should have to live like us poor people. Living on fixed income from social security instead of the outrageous pensions they get!!! Thank you for listening.

I think that we as a country are becoming very submissive in our abilities to conquer and let the manufactures and oil companies run our lives. As other countries try to become democratic we are going back to communism by letting all who are running this country to do so without letting them know how we really feel. I know I cannot afford to pay the gas, heating and now that summer is coming the electric prices while trying to survive daily life. I know our senior citizens are feeling the crunch while everything around them is going up but their Social Security checks. We need to do something together to let the oil companies know that we are not going to take it anymore. Gas in my area always goes up 10 to 20 cents, not the 1 or 2 cents I see on TV. Wake up America and let us pull together and peacefully end there crazy profits.

I am completely knocked out by the price of gas. I have a car that takes premium gas, so you can imagine how much money I spend weekly on gas. I have to put gas in my budget now, and I don't go out very much other than work and food shopping. When will we see some relieve at the pump. Will prices rise to $4.00? The law says that we must have insurance. How does one pay for insurance, car payments and and gas.

Mr. Bush has or planned to place a cap on the ammounts a person could sue for in medical mistakes, well why don't he step in and put a cap on the price of gas, this is because he and his daddy both have stock in OPEC!!! Shows where his loyalty is!!! Someone is getting verry rich off our backs!!!

Saw the report on the average cost of gas in Pennsylvania. Wish I could find it for $2.88 a gallon! In the Marple/Newtown area, it is up around $3.15 depending on which side of the street you are on. The funny thing is (and I really wish someone could explain this) there seems to be a .10 difference between filling stations. If you all get a chance, take a ride up Rt.3 and compare. I paid $2.97 today in Aston (Rt.452 at 5 Points) where I work... not so bad. Makes me wonder if the price of gas is based on the cost of living in the area in which the station is located.

Is it legal to go up every day and sometimes twice a day? The Wawa at 202 and Naamans Creek Road has been going up every day and some times twice a day. I don't think it is fair especially you have to drive an one hour to and one from work if traffic is O.K. This is not fair!!!! This is not the first time Wawa have done this. Thanks for listening. Have a great weekend.
