AAA Warns Delaware May See Gas Shortages

WILMINGTON (AP) ― Triple A Mid-Atlantic is warning that temporary gasoline shortages are likely in Delaware over the next 30 to 60 days.

Drivers are already contending with prices for regular gas that are 57 cents a gallon higher than a year ago, and nine cents higher than just last week.

By Memorial Day, Triple A says Delaware should expect to see those prices hit the three dollar mark.

There may be even more price volatility because of the problems meeting the demand for ethanol, which is replacing M-T-B-E as a fuel additive this spring.

Refiners are switching to ethanol because M-T-B-E can pollute water supplies, but are finding it difficult to get supplies.
