15th Annual Blue Cross RiverRink New Year's Party

PHILADELPHIA The Best View of the New Year's Eve Fireworks is on Ice Skates at Penn's Landing!

Fireworks at Penn's Landing are a grand New Year's Eve tradition and the New Year's Eve Party on Ice at the Blue Cross RiverRink is a fun-filled way to celebrate. It's great for all ages and ideal for families as a non-alcoholic way to ring in the New Year. The Blue Cross RiverRink's convenient location on Columbus Boulevard at Market Street will be the perfect place to view the Midnight fireworks over the Delaware River. The great food, fun activities, live entertainment in the heated indoor facility, and ice-skating, make the New Year's Eve Party on Ice, one of the most unique parties in Philadelphia!

December 31, 2008 will end in sparkling delight, as Philadelphia's annual free New Year's Eve fireworks show at Penn's Landing, continues the tradition of ringing in the year with a bang. Since 1991, fireworks on New Year's Eve has become a tradition at Penn's Landing, and now thousands of people visit Penn's Landing to watch the fireworks display and celebrate at New Year's Eve.

Seen easily along Philadelphia's waterfront at Penn's Landing at Midnight, this year's production will weave a tapestry of color choreographed to music. The overall music track will be simulcast on KYW Newsradio 1060 and KYW-HD and is scored to evoke hope in the upcoming New Year. The fireworks will also be broadcast live on CBS 3 for the entire region to enjoy.

This year's New Year's Eve Fireworks are free, courtesy of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Penn's Landing Corporation, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation, PRWT Services, Inc, Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing and the Moshulu.

Tickets to the Party on Ice are only $30 for skaters and $20 for spectators. Tickets are limited and on sale at www.riverrink.com. The Party On Ice, sponsored by B101, takes place from 11:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. and includes free balloons, noise makers, and photo keepsakes. Entertainment will include free psychic readers and strolling entertainment by Mummertime.

Penn's Landing Corporation developed the Blue Cross RiverRink in 1993 to make the waterfront a year-round entertainment destination. Each year the popularity increases with more than 100,000 patrons enjoying the Blue Cross RiverRink each year.

Special holiday skating sessions on New Year's Eve, December 31 are: 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Noon to 2:00 p.m.; 2;30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; and *11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. (Advance Tickets are Require for the late night party). Special holiday hours continue on January 1 with sessions at 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Call 215.925.RINK or visit www.riverrink.com for more information.

Skating admission is extremely affordable at only $7 and $8 for Friday and Saturday night sessions, and skate rental is available for $3. Convenient parking is also available on site. Independence Blue Cross is the founding and presenting sponsor of the Blue Cross RiverRink. Other supporters include: TD Bank, CBS 3 and the CW Philly and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation.

The Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing, Philadelphia's only outdoor public ice rink, is located at Columbus Boulevard at Market Street. The Blue Cross RiverRink is available for birthday parties, corporate parties and private rentals. Skating lessons and group outings are also available.
