Chris May Promoted To 6, 11 Co-Anchor

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― CBS 3 Anchor Chris May has been promoted to co-anchor of Eyewitness News at 6 and 11 p.m. with Susan Barnett, Vice President and News Director Susan Schiller has announced.

May, who came to the station in October, 2007 as a weekend anchor, also co-anchors CBS 3's 4 p.m. newscast with Angela Russell. Since June of this year, he has been filling in as co-anchor on the 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

"Since joining CBS 3, Chris has distinguished himself with his versatility as an anchor on the set and in the field," Schiller says. "His reports from the 2008 Democratic and Republican Conventions, as well as his co-hosting duties on our Liberty Medal telecast and that of the Phillies World Series Championship Parade, are just a few examples of his range and his commitment to the newscast. He has done more than made a place for himself on this news team. He has also made a home in the Philadelphia area by lending his skills to area charities and community partners."

Before joining CBS 3, May had been a co-anchor at the CBS 3 sister stations in Boston -- anchoring WBZ-TV's News at 5 p.m. and WSBK-TV's News at 9 p.m. He also anchored at WHDH-TV in Boston and at KATV in Little Rock, Arkansas.

An award-winning journalist, May has covered a number of national stories in recent years including Hurricane Katrina, the 2004 Democratic and Republican National Conventions, three State of the Union addresses, three presidential inaugurations, and the Supreme Court arguments that helped settle the 2000 race for the White House.

A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, May is a 1993 graduate of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunications in Tempe where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism.

May and his wife, Lea, reside in Center City Philadelphia with their son.

CBS 3 (KYW-TV) is part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
