2009 Race For The Cure

Live Coverage Begins At 6 a.m. on CBS 3 and CBS3.com

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― CBS 3's "Women of Eyewitness New" will team up with personalities from their CBS Radio sister stations on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10 to host the annual Susan G. Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure®. Opening ceremonies begin at 7 a.m. with the 5K run/walk following at 8:15 a.m. at Eakins Oval just outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Susan Barnett, Natasha Brown, Pat Ciarrocchi, Carol Erickson, Liz Keptner, Maria La Rosa, Kathy Orr, Stephanie Stahl and Mary Stoker Smith will host the annual
5-K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Walk to raise money in support of breast cancer research and education as well as anchor the event live on site. Lesley Van Arsdall and Anne-Marie Green will anchor live coverage of the event from the CBS 3 studios beginning at 6 a.m. through 9 a.m. on CBS 3 and simulcast the coverage of the event live on CBS3.COM.

The CBS 3 team will be joined by staffers from the CBS Radio stations including Vince Hill of KYW Newsradio 1060 and his wife, Janis, a breast cancer survivor; Valerie Knight of 98.1 WOGL; Dom Giordano of The Big Talker 1210AM WPHT; Jennifer Reed of 94 WYSP, and Steve Trevelise of Sportsradio 610 WIP along with his wife, Daneen, a survivor. Natasha Brown, who anchors The CW Philly 57's Wake Up News, will also be joined by members of The CW Crew – Justin Dugan, Christian Ramirez-Coll, Kharisma McIlwaine and Vittoria Woodhill.

All seven of the CBS stations in the Philadelphia market – CBS 3 (KYW-TV), The CW Philly 57 (WPSG-TV), KYW Newsradio 1060, 98.1 WOGL, 94 WYSP, SportsRadio 610 WIP and The Big Talker 1210AM WPHT – are sponsors of the Race, now the largest fundraiser of its kind in Philadelphia. All of the stations have been airing public service announcements, special news reports and other programming leading up to Mother's Day to raise awareness of the event.

More than 40,000 people participated in last year's Race for the Cure, which raised $3.7 million for the fight against breast cancer. The Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure® is hosted by the Philadelphia Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Online registration for the Race is closed. In-person registration will take place at the following locations:

• Friday, May 8, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center (17th & Race)

• Saturday, May 9, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Philadelphia Center City (17th & Race)

• Sunday, May 10, 6:00 – 8 a.m. at Eakins Oval (26th & Ben Franklin Parkway)
