CBS 3 Hosts Alex's Lemonade Phone Bank
Dedicates Full Day Of On-Air Fundraising To Alex's Lemonade Stand
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
CBS 3 is once again takin the unusual step of breaking format on Thursday, June 11th to present a full day of fundraising for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation live from the Great Hall in the station's HD Broadcast Center.
The Alex Scott Phone Bank will air in special segments from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the broadcast day.

The station is making the time available in newscasts, in commercial break time and by pre-empting regularly-scheduled programming from 9 to 10 a.m., 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m.
CBS 3's Chris May, Susan Barnett, Pat Ciarrocchi, Liz Keptner, Kathy Orr, and Stephanie Stahl will spearhead the 15-hour effort to raise funds for the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, a unique charity that evolved from the front yard lemonade stand of four-year-old Alexandra Scott
Since her passing in 2004, Alex's Lemonade Stand has blossomed into a nationwide fundraising movement to find a cure for childhood cancer.
Alex's parents, Liz and Jay Scott, along with other CBS 3 personalities, will join the hosts for the annual event as will personalities from the CBS Radio stations locally.
In honor of Lemonade Days Weekend, "Alex Scott: A Stand for Hope," a moving half hour special that tells Alex's story through her parents, her medical team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and many of the people who were touched by her life, will also air Saturday, June 13th at 7 p.m. on CBS 3 and at 10:30 p.m. on The CW Philly. The show will be rebroadcast on Sunday, June 14th at 11 a.m. on CBS 3.
The Alex Scott Phone Bank will help kick off Lemonade Days 2009 (June 12-14) when thousands of people across the country will take a stand against pediatric cancer by hosting lemonade stands of their own. In conjunction with CBS 3's fundraising efforts, Meteorologist Kathy Orr will host a CBS 3 lemonade stand to collect donations in Ocean City, New Jersey at Rita's Water Ice on The Boardwalk on June 11th as part of her "Orr at the Shore" series.
"Lemonade weekend has become a family affair at CBS 3 and The CW Philly," says President and General Manager Jon Hitchcock. "We're happy to host this fundraising effort for the third consecutive year, not only to continue the great work that Alex started but to share the stories of all of the extraordinary people who are fighting childhood cancers."
"We are seeing progress every day in fighting childhood cancer," says Liz Scott, Alex's mother. "As long as children are still fighting this battle, we will be working year-round to help them, their families and their wonderful medical teams to succeed."
