Annual Joy Of Sharing Toy Drive Underway

Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting To Kick Off Campaign

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―

Meteorologist Kathy Orr and members of the CBS 3 family – Jim Donovan, Chris May, Angela Russell and Stephanie Stahl -- will kick-off the 19th annual Joy of Sharing toy campaign benefiting the Salvation Army on Friday, November 23rd at the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony from 3 to 6 p.m. (tree lighting at 5 p.m.) in Philadelphia.

The CW Crew – Justin Dugan, Ashley Harder, Kharisma McIlwaine, Sean Scott and Megan Stecher – will join the CBS team at the event.  The stations' on-air personalities will be handing out hot chocolate and candy canes at the event.  Viewers are invited to share in the festivities by bringing a new, unwrapped toy for a deserving child. The toy drive will continue through Friday, December 21st.

Eyewitness News Anchors Larry Mendte and Alycia Lane, along with The CW Philly 57's Sean Murphy and Natasha Brown, will be requesting new, unwrapped toys for local children by way of public service announcements airing on the two stations.  Newsradio's Cheryl Elias and the on air staff of 94 WYSP will do the same on the radio side.  The Joy of Sharing campaign will allow the Salvation Army to provide toys for more than 50,000 children this year.

The Philadelphia Flyers will support the campaign for the third year in a row by hosting a Joy of Sharing Night and collecting toys at the December 18th game against the Phoenix Coyotes.  In addition, the Philadelphia Phantoms will assist the campaign by collecting toys on December 14th at the game against the Toronto Marlies.
