Temple University To Lose Some Pediatric Services

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ―

Many pediatric services provided at Temple University Children's Medical Center will now be performed at another children's hospital.

Under an agreement announced Wednesday, inpatient pediatric care and selected outpatient services now provided at Temple will be done at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children.

Officials will start making the change immediately. It will mean the elimination of about 30 jobs, a combination of doctors and staff.

Emergency pediatric care, neonatal intensive care and outpatient or primary pediatric care will continue to be provided at Temple.

The 25-year affiliation agreement between Temple and St. Christopher's calls for pediatric physicians and faculty from Temple's School of Medicine to practice and teach at St. Christopher's.
