Lost N.J. Cat Found In Georgia

SICKLERVILLE, N.J. (CBS 3) ― A curious cat from Camden County was discovered a long way from his New Jersey home.

Heathcliff vanished from his Sicklerville home three weeks ago only to turn up in suburban Atlanta, a distance of about 800 miles.

The curious cat apparently hitched a ride in the back of a U-Haul van and the driver had no idea.

"They were six hours on their way back home, stopped for a break and they heard meowing in the back of the truck," Heathcliff's owner Krystyn O'Donnell said.

The well-traveled cat eventually ended up in the garage of a Georgia homeowner, who in turn, brought the cat to an animal shelter.

The animal shelter identified the wayward feline using a tiny microchip that was attached to him.

"I was shocked, shocked, I didn't think I was ever going to see him again," O'Donnell said.

The traveling kitty is expected to be reunited with his owners on Friday.
