Let's Go Cheap: Cape May Zoo
CAPE MAY, N.J. (CBS 3) ―
Cape May County Park and Zoo is a ray of sunshine on a less that stellar beach day. The 200-acre facility has more than 600 animals and the best part, it's free.
One of the zoo's most impressive features is the 60-acre African Savanna where giraffes, zebras and ostriches roam free.
"It's very open. The animals look very close even though they are still far away. We give them space to enjoy themselves," said Dr. Hubert Paluch, Director of the Cape May Zoo.
The zoo, which relies heavily on funding from the county government, expects more than 500,000 visitors will pass through this summer.
While you will not be charged admission, donations are appreciated.
To get to the Cape May County Park and Zoo, you can take the Garden State Parkway to Exit 11. It is located at 421 Washington Street in Cape May.
