'Runway Pig' In Need Of A Good Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A once-stray pig that was found near the Philadelphia International Airport is looking for a new home.

Surely, you have heard the story about the Three Little Pigs, but did you hear the one about the pig found in Southwest Philadelphia?

The animal was found close to the Philadelphia International Airport. At first, animal rescuers could not believe their eyes.

"Are you sure? You sure this isn't a dog or a large cat or a bird? And they said, 'no it's a pig,'" Lori McCutcheon of the Last Chance Ranch said.

He weighs in at 150 pounds and he has a face only his mother could love.

"We gave him the name Runway because of the airport," McCutcheon said.

Runway has been on his own for about a year.

"I think he must have been a pet somewhere along the line and he just got too big," McCutcheon said.

Runway was running with a bunch of stray cats and the people who fed the cats knew it was time to find Runway a home.

It took six animal rescuers to bring him to the Last Chance Ranch in Richboro, Bucks County.

He keeps the workers them busy since Runway likes to run away.

The Last Chance Ranch is trying to make the pig more personable by bribing him with dog biscuits.

"He is on a pig diet because he needs to lose some weight, he's a little overweight," McCutcheon said.

So if you are in the market for a pet pig, Runway is looking for a home.

"He needs to go with somebody with experience that understands pigs, that can work with him and get him through his fears and then he is going to be wonderful," McCutcheon explained.
