Body Of Missing NJ Teen Found In Surf

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, N.J. (AP) ― The body of a New Jersey teenager who disappeared after being knocked down by a large wave this week has been found not far from where he went missing.

Sixteen-year-old Sal Roberts of Voorhees was found late Friday night by three girls swimming in the surf off Seaside Heights. A cause of death has not been determined.

Roberts, who was last seen Wednesday afternoon, was among a group of seven teens on a beach outing to the Ocean County community organized by Youth Consultation Services.

He and another teen were swimming when they were knocked over by a large wave. A lifeguard rescued the second teen but was unable to grab Roberts.

State police, the Coast Guard and local rescue teams had conducted an extensive search for Roberts over the past three days.
