Pa. Man Dies In NJ Swimming Accident
BARNEGAT, N.J. (CBS 3) ―
A Philadelphia man's vacation on the New Jersey shore has ended in tragedy.
The 59-year-old man, whose name was not released, and another person were swimming Friday afternoon in waters off Barnegat Light when -- for unknown reasons -- both began to struggle, authorities said Saturday.
Two surfers helped police pull the pair from the water at about 4 p.m. The man, who wasn't breathing, was taken to Southern Ocean County Hospital and died there a short time later.
Officials say the victim had been vacationing in nearby Barnegat Light with his wife and some friends. An autopsy was to be performed Saturday.
Details on the other swimmer were not immediately disclosed
