Plans for a performing arts center proposed at the former Bethlehem Steel plant have been approved by city planners.
The unanimous approval of the land development plans on Monday sets the stage for construction to begin this fall on the $25 million, four-story performing arts center in Bethlehem.
The arts center is slated to open in spring of 2011.
It is to include a two-screen cinema, a bistro and an area with flat-screen TVs that visitors can use for anything from Powerpoint presentations to Guitar Hero.
The building will also have a cabaret-style cafe with a 900-person capacity and a 4,000-square foot room for community and educational events.
