Student Charged With Tossing Throwing Star
LEWES, Del. (AP) ―
Delaware State Police say a 16-year-old Lewes high school student hurled a throwing star past two girls in a classroom, narrowly missing them.
Police said the throwing star struck a cabinet and the girls weren't injured. The boy was taken into custody at Cape Henlopen High School on Tuesday and charged with possession of a weapon in a safe school zone, reckless endangering and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Police aren't releasing the boy's name because he's a juvenile. He is in family's custody until a Sussex County Family Court arraignment happens and he has been suspended from school.
School District Human Resources Supervisor T.S. Buckmaster says the Milton teen may have to make restitution for the classroom's damaged wooden cabinet and may be expelled.
