Child Found Alone In Delaware Casino Parking Lot
WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) ―
A Wilmington woman has been charged with leaving her son alone in a car in the parking lot of a casino.
State police say a security guard patrolling the parking lot at Delaware Park Racetrack and Slots spotted the 12-year-old boy alone in the car around 9 p.m. Sunday. Police say the 33-year-old woman left the boy in the car for more than two hours.
When the mother was found in the casino, police say she told troopers that she went to Delaware Park to win some money to take her son to the movies.
The Division of Family Services was contacted and advised of the incident.
The mother was released on a $500 bond. Police say they are not releasing the woman's name to protect the child.
The boy was turned over to a family member.
