New Castle County police say a 21-year-old man disarmed a 17-year-old trying to rob him and shot the teen twice.

Police went to the 900 block of West Avenue near New Castle Sunday night for a reported shooting.

Detectives learned the teen was trying to rob the 21-year-old when he took the loaded gun away and shot the teen twice in the chest.

Moments after meeting the man, who turned over the gun, police received a report from the teen saying he'd been shot.

Police say Diamere Brady underwent surgery at Christiana Hospital and will be charged with weapons offenses and attempted robbery.
