Rescue Teams Search For 15 Missing In N.M. Forest

Two adults and a group of school children were on a hiking trip in the Gila National Forest when members of the group were reported missing.

Search teams in southwestern New Mexico are looking for 14 children and an adult reported missing during a school trip in the Gila National Forest.
State police Lt. Eric Garcia says 15 children and two adults went on a hiking trip Wednesday and failed to return by the afternoon.
He says an adult and a child walked out of the wilderness after they became separated from the main group, and a search was launched in the afternoon. It continued Thursday.
Garcia says 12 search and rescue teams, some on horseback, and National Guard quick response teams are looking for the hikers He says state police and U.S. Border Patrol aircraft also are involved in the search.
The group was from a charter school in Silver City.
