The U.S.
ambassador to Serbia
says he's "very angry" over last week's burning of the American
Embassy, and warns that "it had better not happen again."
Cameron Munter is demanding that the Serbian government back
its condemnation of the violence with action.
A mob stormed the embassy after a rally to protest Kosovo's declaration
of independence. One of the rioters died in the fire.
Mobs also attacked the embassies of several other countries
that have recognized Kosovo's independence.
Munter is also taking issue with Serbian politicians who
have defended the riots as a legitimate form of protest. The ambassador tells
The Associated Press that such "incendiary language" will further
isolate Serbia.
The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is issuing
a similar warning. Delaware Democrat Joe Biden tells ABC's "This
Week" that if Serbia
doesn't get the violence under control, its chances of joining NATO will be
"very much in jeopardy."
