Banned Toys Found For Sale In New Jersey

NEWARK, N.J. (CBS 3) ―

New Jersey Inspectors found almost 1,500 yo-yo waterballs in stores Thursday even though the toys were banned since last spring because of a strangulation hazard.

Most of the toys, which are liquid-filled rubber balls attached to stretchy cords, were found on boardwalks, according to the state Division of Consumer Affairs.

Even though the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found the cord can wrap around a child's neck, it has not banned the product.

About 1,200 waterballs were found at vendors along the shore including Atlantic City, Seaside Heights and Wildwood. The others were found at Five Below stores.
