A Pennsylvania elementary school is closing for a week because of an illness officials are classifying as a "probable" case of swine flu.
Pennsylvania Department of Health spokeswoman Stacy Kriedeman said Wednesday the state recommended closing Conrad Weiser West Elementary School in Berks County partly because so many children were missing school. She says such recommendations are made on a case-by-case basis.
Classes are scheduled to resume May 21 at the school about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
Other schools in the district are to remain open, with a strict policy that anyone with flu-like symptoms will be sent home.
As of Wednesday the Pennsylvania Department of Health has reported 22 confirmed cases of swine flu in the state and 28 probable cases.
