"King Tut" Sought For Jersey Stabbing
HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) ―
Police are looking for an aspiring rapper who is accused of stabbing a woman seven times hours after he was freed on bail on charges of hiding drugs in a teddy bear.
Twenty-three-year-old Darnell Brittingham was initially arrested Tuesday when Fort Lee police said they found several bags of marijuana and a half ounce of cocaine stuffed inside a teddy bear in his car. He was freed on $25,000 bail early Thursday.
Authorities say the Weaverville, N.C., resident who raps under the stage name "King Tut" is the prime suspect in stabbing a woman seven times in a Hackensack apartment Thursday afternoon.
They say the victim is expected to live. Her name has not been released.
Police continue to look for Brittingham.
