Suspect Found Beaten After Deadly Shooting
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
A suspect was found severely beaten following a deadly shooting in North Philadelphia late Sunday night.
Officers were called to Front and Westmoreland Streets after reports of gunfire at about 10 p.m.
Police said the incident began with an altercation between a rooming house manager and a tenant. After being notified of an eviction, the tenant allegedly shot the manager twice in the stomach.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim's identity has not been released pending the notification of family members.
Police discovered the suspect critically beaten just seven blocks from the scene. He was apparently still armed with the murder weapon.
Further details were unavailable. The incident remains under investigation.
