Morning Commute Gets Quiet On Select SEPTA Trains
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
The morning commute is getting a little quieter on a few SEPTA regional rail trains after the launch of a new test program Monday.
SEPTA officials said a new QuietRide program will be tested on the R5 Lansdale-Doylestown line through March.
In the first car of select trains, all cell phones must be placed on vibrate or silent, headphones must be used while listening to music and conversations must be kept to a whisper.
Seats are available on a first come, first serve basis and conductors will remind passengers sitting in the designated car of the noise restrictions.
For now the QuietRide program is restricted to the Lansdale-Doylestown line, but if it proves to be a silent success it could expand in the near future.
