Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden rallied supporters in the Philadelphia area Friday, continuing the campaign's push to woo voters in Pennsylvania.
Senator Biden focused on the economy during a discussion with the Ironworkers Local Union in Philadelphia Friday morning.
During his address, Biden tried to reassure middle class voters that if elected, Obama's economic plan would cut taxes for all but the wealthiest Americans. He said under the plan, tax credits would be offered for gas, mortgages and college.
The funding for the credits would be gathered by cutting the Bush tax cuts for the top 1 percent in the country, those that make over $435,000 a year.
Biden also talked about free trade and said countries should be forced to comply with labor and environmental regulations in order to become favored trading partners.
The Delaware Senator also took a minute to talk about the recent Republican National Convention in Minnesota.
"All I heard was politics as usual at the Republican National Convention, I didn't hear anything about you," Biden said.
State Representative Bob Brady supported Biden's small town background, telling voters, "If we get Joe Biden as vice president, we get one of us in the White House."
In the afternoon, the Delaware senator paid a visit to Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne, about 20 miles northeast of the city.
Meanwhile, it was also announced that Republican presidential nominee John McCain will visit Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster on Tuesday.
