Additional Teens Charged In Deadly SEPTA Assault
PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ―
Philadelphia Police announced four more teens have been charged with murder in connection with a deadly attack inside a Center City SEPTA station last week.
Police said the teenage suspects were taken in for questioning Wednesday morning. Sources said the four teens, students at Simon Gratz High School, admitted to their involvement in an attack on 36-year-old Sean Conroy at a SETPA El station at 13th and Market Streets on March 26.
Conroy, the manager of a nearby Starbucks, suffered a massive asthma attack as a result of the assault and was pronounced dead a short time later at Jefferson University Hospital.
Kinta Stanton, a16-year-old sophomore at Simon Gratz, was taken into custody at the scene.
Homicide Department Captain Mike Costello identified the four latest suspects as 17-year-old Ameer Best along with 16-year-olds Arthur Alston, Rasheem Bell and Nashir Fisher.
All five teens now in custody have been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy
In the wake of his death Conroy's fiancée posted a statement on her front door that read in part:
"Sean and I were about to star out lives together
I cannot accept his death in so many was. Right now I just want police to focus on Sean's death."
Police said they are searching for a possible six suspect in the assault. Further details were unavailable.
