Rick's Steaks At Reading Terminal Closes Today
PHILADELPHIA (CBS3/AP) ―
Rick Olivieri will grill his last steak at Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market Wednesday.
The owner of Rick's Steaks lost his court battle to stay in Reading Terminal in June and was ordered to vacate the historic downtown site by Oct. 31. His doors will officially close at 5 p.m.
His departure comes after management refused to give Olivieri a new lease.
Olivieri was originally ordered to vacate by the end of July 2007, but he sued and the market countersued and Rick's remained open in the meantime.
Olivieri agreed to move his shop by the end of October and in exchange management waived the legal fees that could have left Olivieri paying nearly $700,000.
Olivieri has been scouting other locations, and still has a spot inside Citizens Bank Park.
